Coastal shrimp since 1967

The coastal-shrimp catch of the industrial fishery is the longest series of the ministry's workbook. It reads against the international shrimp price and the customs exports.

Annual catch of the industrial fishery, in tonnes, as published by the MPEB.

Method

Stileex collects the MPEB's official national-production workbook (distributed by the ministry through Google Drive), archives every revision and the statistical yearbooks (2013 to 2023) verbatim, and normalises the published series: the total production, the six activities and the industrial fishery's species detail. Nothing is estimated: figures are booked as published, including the rounded estimates of the older decades.

Frequently asked questions

What is Madagascar's fishery and aquaculture production?
The ministry of Fisheries and the Blue Economy publishes a total annual national production, in tonnes, aggregating the maritime fishery (industrial, artisanal, small-scale), the continental fishery and aquaculture (marine and freshwater). The latest published year is shown at the top of this page with its change.
Where do these figures come from?
From the MPEB's official 'Production nationale de la pêche et de l'aquaculture' workbook, complemented by the fisheries and aquaculture statistical yearbooks (2013 to 2023). Stileex archives every revision of the workbook and books the figures as published.
Why does the series go back to 1967?
The ministry's workbook runs from 1967 to the recent years. The older decades carry sometimes rounded estimates (the ministry then published orders of magnitude): they are kept as published, never reprocessed.
How do I access the data via API?
The latest value of the total production and of the coastal-shrimp catch is freely served as JSON. The full history is available with a free API key, from the series catalog.
