Stileex discovers each edition from the SPAT's global maritime-traffic page, archives the PDF verbatim (editions are immutable) and normalises the comparable items of the two successive layouts: global tonnage, TEU containers, containerised tonnage, hydrocarbons, SMMC conventional cargo and the permissionnaires' bulk. Only full years enter the series: a mid-year partial cut is archived, never counted.
