The monthly path since 2022
The national averages bulletin by bulletin: local and imported white rice at retail, paddy at the producer stage, in ariary per kilogram.
A gap in a line is an absence at the source (unpublished bulletin or unavailable value): the lines never bridge it. Bulletin No. 39 (August 2024) was never published.

Method
The Rice Observatory (a unit of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock) publishes a monthly PDF bulletin with the average rice prices its regional branches survey: producer-stage paddy, local white rice at producer, wholesale and retail stages, imported white rice at wholesale and retail stages, by region and district. Stileex archives every bulletin verbatim and extracts its tables without recomputation: every figure served is the source's own published average.
The source uploads its bulletins in batches, sometimes a year after the covered month. The freshness shown is the latest bulletin's, never our reading date: a June figure stays a June figure.
The bulletins mark ND a value unavailable at survey time and NA a value not applicable to the area: those holes are kept as-is, never filled or interpolated.

Frequently asked questions
- What is the official price of rice in Madagascar?
- The national average retail price of local white rice, as published by the MINAE Rice Observatory, leads this page together with paddy and imported rice, at the latest bulletin's date. The per-region table shows how prices spread across the country.
- Where do these prices come from?
- From the monthly bulletins of the Rice Observatory (ODR), the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock unit that tracks the rice value chain through its regional branches. Stileex archives every PDF bulletin verbatim, extracts its tables and builds the machine-readable historical series the source does not publish.
- Why are the prices not from the current month?
- The Observatory publishes its bulletins in batches, months after the covered month. Stileex reads the source daily and ingests each new batch the day it lands, but never invents freshness: the date shown is the bulletin's.
- What is the difference between paddy, local rice and imported rice?
- Paddy is unhusked rice bought from producers. Local white rice is milled rice grown in Madagascar, followed through to retail prices. Imported white rice enters through the ports and is followed at wholesale and retail stages.
